Thu, Mar 08 2001 13:00 CET 121 Views
Bulgaria's future membership in NATO and the European Union were the top priority issues of President Petar Stoyanov's official visit to Belgium on Monday to Wednesday.

Stoyanov's visit took place on the eve of the country's EU presidency, starting July 1. One of Belgium's priorities, as the country has declared, will be EU enlargement and common European security and defense.

The developments in Macedonia topped the agenda of Stoyanov's meetings in Luxemburg Wednesday and Thursday with Prime Minister Jean-Claude Juncker who shared Bulgaria's concern over the latest developments in Macedonia. According to him, Bulgaria generates security in the Balkans and its integration with NATO is logical.
