Meningitis epidemic in Kurdjali continues

Wed, Jul 25 2001 15:00 CET 88 Views
The number of cases of serous meningitis in the Kurdjali region (Southern Bulgaria) has risen to 52, said the local branch of the Hygiene and Epidemiology Institute on Monday. The patients were mostly aged between two and 14, but there was also one 28-year-old man. Kurdjali is the only region where an epidemic outbreak of meningitis was declared. Health Ministry experts forecasted that the prevalence of viral meningitis in the region would fade by the end of August.
