Support for Stoyanov

Wed, Aug 08 2001 15:00 CET 33 Views
Fifty Bulgarian intellectuals issued a declaration on Tuesday, pledging their support for President Petar Stoyanov's re-election bid as an independent candidate. The intellectuals declared that they backed Stoyanov's candidacy because he had invariably enjoyed the highest measure of public confidence over the last five years, and because power had not changed him. He had proven that he was president of all Bulgarians and well-represented the country to the world, said the declaration.
