Scientific expedition to study the Danube

Wed, Aug 22 2001 15:00 CET 27 Views
An international scientific expedition is researching the quality of the water of the Danube river. The expedition was organized by the International Commission for Conservation of the Environment in the Danube River Basin, whose members are all Danubian countries. The team includes four biologists, including Boyan Boyanovski from Bulgaria, three chemists, and a microbiologist. The scientists are travelling on two ships, where part of the analyses will be conducted. The exhibition departed on August 13 from Regensburg, Germany, and will enter the Bulgarian part of the river on September 9.

Meanwhile, the river's water level continued to drop significantly, and on Monday nine ships were unable to continue their route.
