State of emergency in Ivailovgrad lifted

The state of emergency in the fire-stricken Ivailovgrad (Southern Bulgaria) was lifted last Thursday by a decision of the local commission for protection of the population from accidents and disasters, said commission chairman Stefan Tanev, who is also mayor of the Ivailovgrad municipality. The fire that raged in the area for over seven days was finally put down. It destroyed nearly 7,000ha of mixed forests. Another 50,000ha of coniferous trees were salvaged from the blaze.
