The mysterious death on August 28, 1943 of Tsar Boris III of Bulgaria (1918-1943), father of present prime minister and former monarch Simeon Saxe-Coburg, was commemorated on Tuesday. Hundreds of people attended the service at the tsar's grave in the Rila Monastery. During the communist era, the coffin with the tsar's remains was unearthed and all later attempts for finding its location have failed. In 1993, on the 50th anniversary of Boris III's death, his preserved heart was brought to the monastery and was buried in the tsar's grave. Also on Tuesday, a memorial religious service was held at Boris III's monument in Sofia.
