The musical I Will Make You Fall in Love premiers to start the new season in the Music Theatre Stefan Makedonski.

Beginning on Sunday, the musical performance by the Bulgarian composer Haigashod Agasyan and director Nedyalko Yordanov is an experiment in stage and theatre. The musical represents a romantic happening in two parts.

"The play Beautiful Elena was the initiator of contradictory emotions among the public and this made me think of a way to bring the old theme back to life," Yordanov said.

A musical of this type has not been staged yet and an experiment was in order, according to the director of the theatre, Svetozar Donev.

In the opinion of the director of the musical, this has been one of the hardest things to present to an audience due to its modern plot and themes. "It is most precious to me, just because of the hard times I have had making it a reality," Yordanov said.

The history of the creation of the musical dates back to a staged play in the youth Theatre in 1968. "I decided not to mix up characters from the past with the present generation," Yordanov declared. Six people from the dregs of society are well depicted in the musical. All of them possess strong personalities and spirit. They are all members of a racketeer gang and are united by hatred.

Each one of these six talented young kids has known what suffering means and has experienced the bitterness of life. "They all have their personal reasons to hate the people around them and they do it passionately," Yordanov said.

Unexpectedly in the story, two of the gangsters fall in love with each other, having never before known what affection meant. "It is extremely challenging to build a relationship in a team based on hatred and distrust," Yordanov explained. The world of the modern generation appeared to be of interest for Yordanov. "Nowadays hatred, like love, is the sole place to run to," he said.

The actors playing in the musical are absolutely unknown to the public. "They have been chosen out of 80 people and I am sure that their selection will make them stars," he added. The requirements they meet include a certain amount of flexibility and singing and dancing abilities, which they all have, he said. The two beginnings of life, love and hatred, are the two poles around which the plot has been united.

The working team and the selected actors agree with the theme and the message to be conveyed to the audiences. For the director of the musical, Alec (Vladimir Kolev) is the strongest person of all and is opposed to the rest of the gang, provoking hatred among them all.

All the music for I Will Make You Fall in Love is the fruit of a year's hard work by the famous composer Agasyan. The pieces are not just suitable melodies for songs, they are long passages in a musical arrangement in which each one has its own individual creativity. "The whole of the lyrical selection might make you fall in love," Agasyan said.

The group, which has been working for a month on the musical, compares it to the Bulgarian West Side Story with regard to the musical achievements of the actors and the plot itself.

The musical runs until May, when the theatre's art season ends.
