Thu, Nov 01 2001 13:00 CET 150 Views
A man suspected of having contracted the skin form of anthrax, has been admitted to the Dobrich hospital, hospital officials said on Tuesday. The 40-year-old man from the village of Bogdan had a bluish lesion on one of his palms. He was working at the city landfill where he found some dumped mutton meat and took it home to feed his dogs, the man explained, according to hospital officials.

Another seven people with the mild form of anthrax have been treated at this hospital since the beginning of September. Most of them were residents of the same village, Pop Gruevo. Vets explained that the Dobrich district has fields where anthrax spores can survive in the soil for decades.
