Football Union terminates contracts of national team coaches

Thu, Nov 01 2001 13:00 CET 39 Views
Last Friday, the executive committee of the Bulgarian Football Union terminated, ahead of schedule, the contracts of national coaches Stoycho Mladenov of the national team and Dimitar Alexiev of the youth team. Mladenov's contract would have expired on December 31 this year, and Alexiev's on June 30, 2002.

The reason given for the action was the failure in the qualifiers for the World Cup and the European championship against the Czech Republic in the beginning of October, when the national team was beaten 0-6 and the youth team lost by 0-8. No provisions for compensation have been made, because the contracts were terminated by mutual agreement.
