Euroroma leader goes to prison

Thu, Nov 22 2001 13:00 CET 34 Views
Euroroma leader Tsvetelin Kunchev voluntarily surrendered to police and went to prison on Wednesday, ending a six-day search. Last Wednesday, the Supreme Cassation Court confirmed that Kunchev was sentenced to six years in prison for racketeering and physical assault. Last Friday, Kunchev was declared wanted nationwide because he did not show up for his incarceration. Kunchev's lawyers demanded that his imprisonment be postponed on Monday due to the attempted suicide of his wife Stanka Kuncheva after a police search in their house on Friday.
