Thu, Nov 22 2001 13:00 CET 70 Views
Four children died in a fire while sleeping last Friday night in Blagoevgrad. The incident happened in the Roma neighbourhood of the city. Earlier that evening, their father Yulian Raichev made a fire in the stove in the only room of the house and went out, leaving the children sleeping. The neighbours saw the fire coming out of the building, but, instead of calling the fire department, they started to put it out using water hoses. The fire department was signalled an hour later. According to firemen the children died of suffocation and their bodies were almost completely burnt.
