Sofia mayor Stefan Sofianski has announced a state of emergency because the torrential rains that deluged the country for a second week in a row conquered new territories on the night of June 6 - the valley of the Iskar river, and the western and northern areas of Sofia and Pernik.
Several rivers running through Sofia overflowed and flooded adjoining roads, basements and homes.
In Pernik, the Struma river broke through a dyke and flooded basements of nearby buildings, roads, and the town's central bus station.
The flood level in Iskar, which reached two metres at certain points, flooded settlements in its valley, the railway and threatened to flood the Mizia electrical substation, which distributes electricity to northern Bulgaria and Sofia.
Sofianski headed the emergency headquarters of Sofia that has already started working. They began checks on rivers and dams in the region to estimate damages and forecast possible worsening of the situation.
The funding is provided under the foreign military sales programme of the US army's Program Executive Office of Simulation, Training and Instrumentation.
The UK nationals were arrested after throwing beer bottles at people after being refused entry to a restaurant that had closed for the night.
Restoration and development projects include Madara Horseman, Arbanassi fortress, Magura cave.
Simeon Saxe-Coburg and his spouse Margarita opened a new heating and insulation system at the Tsar Ferdinand Hospital for Pulmonary Diseases in Iskrets, a project implemented thanks to the Embassy of the Sovereign Order of Malta in Sofia and the Nando Peretti Foundation.
According to the law's provisions, the commission will have the power to investigate individuals without prior notification and would not require a criminal conviction in order to launch an investigation.
