Thu, Jun 01 2006 11:38 CET 593 Views

MPs accepted on first reading changes to the law against discrimination.

The changes aim at improving regulations concerning gender discrimination and the functioning of the ani-discrimination committee, Focus news agency reported.

New rules define the committee as an independent, specialised office and clarify its status. The changes aim at making the committee a fully independent organ.

According to a report of the European integration committee, the changes do not contradict EU regulations.

MPs said the new regulations give women and men equal access to work places in the state administration and take tougher measures against gender discrimination.
