BULGARIA FIGHTS OBESITY THROUGH HEALTHY EATING AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITY WEEK

A national week for fighting obesity through healthy eating and physical activity begins in Bulgaria.

The campaign aims to increase awareness on the issue of obesity and the health risks related to it. It also plans to promote manners of dealing with the factors causing obesity, namely the consumption of unhealthy food and the lack of exercise.

A forum would open the week-long activities, Bulgarian news agency BTA reported.

Deputy Health Minister Atanas Dodov and heads of nutrition clinics, business representatives and municipal authorities will take part in the talks.

Forum participants will discuss diagnostics and the treatment of obesity. They would also talks about strategies for promoting healthy eating among people at risk such as diabetes patients and people with heart diseases.
