BULGARIA'S TOPALOV SUSPECTED OF UNFAIR PLAY

The Professional Chess Association is ready to start investigation of former world chess champion Vesselin Topalov suspected of unfair play, the Russian gazeta.ru reported.

Allegedly Topalov was regularly playing using the help of his manager Silvio Danailov.

The chess tournament, which took place in 2006 in the Dutch city Wijk aan Zee can be a turning point in the carrier of Topalov. During the tournament a chess fan shot with a camera a part of the game between Topalov and the Ukranian Vassily Ivanchuk.

The fan said that when Topalov was stuck in a difficult situations, his manager walked in and out of the hall and afterwards gave signs by coughing and touching his face.

Another chess master, Martin Breutigam previously told the German daily Westdeutche Algemeine Zeitung that the non-verbal communication between Topalov and Danailov was obvious for everyone.

In the repeatedly commented chess game between Topalov and Vladimir Kramnik, Kramnik asked the organisers to put a barrier between the players and the spectators. Thus, with the lack of help Topalov lost and even accused Kramnik of cheating.

Danailov appealed in court the German newspaper's comments and is ready to launch a trial of the Dutch chess fan, gazeta.ru reported.
