BLAST DESTROYS CAR OF MUNICIPAL COUNCILOR IN BULGARIA'S VELINGRAD

A car blast occurred in the town of Velingrad on the night of February 27.

The blast shattered the windows of nearby houses. No people were harmed, Focus news agency reported.

Municipal councilor Ekaterina Kaferinova is owner of the vehicle. Two months ago somebody tried to set her house on fire and caused significant damage.

The explosive device was places below the front part of the car. Police have been inspecting the crime scene since the time of the incident.

Kaferinova said that she did not receive any previous threats and lacks a business of her own.

"The blast probably resulted from my work as municipal councilor," Kaferinova said. She said that the previous harm attempt happened after the selection of heads of two municipal companies.
