A 3500-year-old bronze edge of spear was found at the ancient Thracian sanctuary of Perperikon, near the town of Kurdzhali.

The edge is nearly 13 cm long and is dated back to the famous Thracian War, described in ancient Greek literature, archaeologist Nikolai Ovcharov said as quoted by Bulgarian news agency BTA.

The edge is unique and only a couple of such artifacts have been found in Bulgaria.

Ovcharov said that such edges were put only on spears used for repulsion of enemy attacks.

A local man found the spear while tilling his field.
