BULGARIA'S AGRICULTURE FUND GETS NEW CHAIRPERSON, CLOSE TO RULING PARTY LEADER

Fri, Jun 15 2007 09:00 CET 304 Views

Businessman Dimitar Tadarukov was appointed head of the State Fund Agriculture.

Movement for Rights and Freedom (MRF) suggested Tadarukov for the position and discussed his nomination with Prime Minister Sergei Stanishev, mediapool.bg said.

Tadarukov's appointment was not a surprise, mediapool.bg said. For weeks rumours said that he will receive the position after the previous chairperson was dismissed.

Political agreements in the ruling tripartite coalition put the fund under the power of MRF and the party chose Tadarukov as manager.

Tadarukov is considered close to MRF leader Ahmed Dogan. Before his appointment, he was head of the only state-owned bank in Bulgaria, Encouragement Bank.

Former head of the fund Assen Droumev was dismissed and accused of malfeasance in March 2007.
