HEALTH MINISTRY IN BULGARIA WARNS OF DANGEROUS FOOD SUPPLEMENT

The food supplement shark cartilage, offered as capsules, is dangerous, Health Ministry warned.

New York-based NBTY Inc. company packages the dangerous supplement, Bulgarian news agency BTA reported.

Health Ministry experts said that in case the supplement is bought, it should not be used.

Those who had used it recently and suffered symptoms of food-poisoning should inform the respective regional inspectorate of protection and control of the public health or the Health Ministry.

The supplement is being distributed by post, internet and in US stores, and could be infected with salmonella bacteria.

Children, the elderly, the ill and those with weak immune system are at great risk if they take the supplement.
