Internet penetration in Bulgaria reached 33.8 per cent this year. Although a substantial increase from 2000 and 2006, when the percentages were, respectively, 5.4 per cent and 28.5 per cent, it was still at modest levels, said Boian Boichev, head of the Bulgarian Association of Information Technologies (BAIT).
The Boichev said this at a National Forum for IT Development, which took place on the sidelines of BAIT Expo.
Boichev went on to say that various Internet segments would be developing side by side, as was the trend elsewhere in the world.
"What has been at hand worldwide - the gradual transition from access to static images to video content, will take place in Bulgaria as well," Boichev said in an interview with investor.bg.
Boichev divided Bulgarian internet users into two categories - the corporate Internet user, who would use the internet for business purposes and the home user, who would use the Internet for fun.
