All partner organisations engaged in the closing down of Mogilinо social care home in northern Bulgaria are expected to meet on May 30 2008 and discuss their actions, the Government's website said on May 29 2008.

A total of 16 children and teenagers have left the home since the start of the year, the website said.

The children were transferred to special care homes and homes for children with mental disabilities.

Three of the children have been linked with their biological parents.

Two girls from the home are to be transferred to the first home for people with mental disabilities in the town of Pernik, near Sofia.
The shelter in Pernik will open several months from now.

The fate of the children, sheltered at the Mogilino social care home become of international interest after in September 2007 BBC4 broadcasted a documentary on the poor living conditions in the home.

Harsh reactions the documentary provoked abroad made Government take action and change the situation at the home. An action plan for closing down the home was approved.

One of the steps in that direction was to cut down the number of children residing at the facility.
Their number has gone down from 100 to 60.  Now there are 20 children and 29 teenagers aged above 18. A total of 50 people are taking care of them at the home.

Medical evaluations of each child have been conducted as well by a team of specialists. The team included psychiatrists, children's psychologists, pediatricians and social workers.

Eighteen of the children are provided with special medical care.
A special nutrition plan was approved and is currently being implemented. Food is now been given four to five time a day.

According to the Government's website, all partner organisations, among which UNICEF, are kept informed at all times about the home's situation.
