Where the boys are (clubbing on the Black Sea)

Wed, Jun 11 2008 14:05 CET 273 Views

Summer has started and Renesanz is there, there being the Zlatni Pyasutsi (Golden Sands) club Masai, and the start being the visit of London DJ Kanio. The day is June 13 2008.

The start of summer also means the move of Bulgaria's club scene to the Black Sea coast; upcoming artists invited by DJ and club music promoters Renesanz include Marcelo Castelli, Swen Weber, Joseph Capriati, Cave, Ben Long, Jamie Bissmire, Boris S, Greg Notill, Killswitch and Reset.

Kanio, through all his name changes, remains known for his minimal techno style. He has worked with labels like Autist Records and Italo Business, through which he has been classed high up on the rankings of DJ portal Beatport. His remix of Daley Padley & Chris Special's Electro is Dead attained the third spot, his remix of Suedmilch's Hakuna (Kanio's Bing Bong Mix) got to number 5, and his original piece Spandex reached 13th.

Bulgarian DJs Balthazar and JackRock will also spin at the June 13 party at Kanio, along with Ico, Anyos, TeeJay, Saffronn, Forceman and Bilingz. At the third SeeMe / South-East European Music Event, which wrapped up in Sofia on June 7, JackRock won recognition from his Balkan peers as the best producer and DJ Take Me Away by Deep Zone featuring Balthazar was named the best track.
