Hull's quest for five against Chelsea

Hull City v Chelsea

Having already defeated four London sides so far this season, including Arsenal and Tottenham away, this season's revelation Hull City will host Chelsea on October 29, bidding to complete a clean sweep of victories against all of the capital's Premier League sides.

KC Stadium used to be a place where one of England's most notorious casual hooligan elements hanged out, the Hulltras. This was a major concern when Hull City won promotion to the Premier League, their reputation for hardcore violent supporters far preceding them, causing a lot of people to brace themselves for bad news, running terrace battles and pitch invasions.

Who would have imagined that Hull City would be in the spot light but for all the good reasons? Hull are the unquestionable sensation of the Premier League so far, with only goal difference separating them from second place in the league behind leaders Liverpool. It is still early to say whether Hull will have the endurance to carry on with their great form past Christmas, but if the small mining town in the north-east of England can make it into Europe next season, this would be an achievement that not many of their supporters would have dreamt of.

Hull will go into the clash with Chelsea after comfortably beating West Bromwich Albion 3-0 away at the weekend. Their only selection worry so far is left-back Andy Dawson who is not certain to play against Chelsea after going off with a dead leg just 10 minutes into the West Brom match. Initially, he was ruled out of the game, but he has since made a promising recovery and the latest update on the official Hull website said that he was likely to be fit.

Chelsea, on the other hand, need a win to rebound from their defeat at home to Liverpool, which put an end to their remarkable streak of 86 games going undefeated at Stamford Bridge.

Conventional wisdom claims that a great team is truly great depending on how it reacts to a major defeat. While Chelsea are still without several key players - including Joe Cole, Michael Essien and Didier Drogba - but having in mind the quality of their substitutes and their budget, this is hardly an excuse against a side like Hull. With any two Chelsea players earning more than the entire Hull City starting 11 plus substitutes, the lack of three or four players should not be a big worry for Luis Felipe Scolari.

Chelsea need to come back quickly if they are to stay within touching distance of the top of the league. But with Hull City's amazing form and bulldog fighting spirit, one could be forgiven to think that the Blues from London would be happy if they manage to scrap a point from there.
