Berbatov back for Mancunian derby

Fri, Nov 28 2008 11:32 CET 152 Views

Dimitar Berbatov is gearing himself up for his first derby since moving to Manchester United after returning to training following a hamstring injury suffered on international duty. This will be the match that can truly embed the Bulgarian in United's folklore for ever.

Never mind all the assists and all the goals he scores during a season - not that they are unimportant, by no means - but if he does the business against the Citizens, he could cement his place in the hearts and minds of the Stretford End forever.

Berbatov, of course, is not certain to be deployed against City on November 30. The Bulgarian missed the last two games for the Red Devils and manager Alex Ferguson has vowed not to rush him back.

He said: "Hamstring injuries are never easy to deal with. We must be careful because he has never had one before. We will have to gauge whether it's wise to use him from the start on Sunday or to have him on the bench."

Berbatov was injured while on international duty with Serbia, in which Bulgaria slumped to its heaviest and most embarrassing defeat in years, further exacerbated by that fact that their oponent on the day made the drubbing look so effortless.

Good news for Manchester United faithful is the medical confirmation that Gary Neville and Paul Scholes are also back in training and are likely to be ready for the match against thei cross-town rivals. Neville has been struggling with a groin injury, but he is reported as "almost certain to play".  Scholes, however, who had a knee operation after the Champions League trip to Aalborg in September, is more likely to be saved for a rainy day later on.

Manchester City vs Manchester United will be shown on Diema 2 in Bulgaria, starting at 3.30 Bulgarian time on November 30.
