Rumours that Formula One double-world champion Fernando Alonso could move from ING Renault team to Ferrari received a new push on December 28 2008 after Gazzetta dello Sport claimed that Alonso had signed a secret agreement with the Italians to join Ferrari as of 2011.
Such rumours have been going around since May 2008 but temporarily subsided in November 2008 after Alonso extended his contract with ING Renault till 2010.
Now Gazzetta dello Sport as quoted by Bulgarian-language Dnevnik daily claims that Alonso has signed a secret contract with Ferrari to join them for four seasons as of 2011 when Ferrari's contracts with their current drivers Kimi Raikkonen and Felipe Massa are due to expire.
"We have two-year contracts with Raikkonen and Massa. The future is ahead of us and Alonso is an excellent driver but life is long
he is young" Ferrari president Luca di
Montezemolo said. Earlier in December, he told Italian TV channel Sky Sports "I think Fernando Alonso is a huge driver, a leader, a nice guy. We could have signed him when he still was at Minardi, but life is long".
"Now, we have a problem: we confirmed Massa and Raikkonen for 2009 and 2010; we have a lot of faith in these drivers, we celebrated with them this season," Montezemolo said.
"I wouldn't change Massa for any other driver in the world. Right now, I'm sure Raikkonen will have an amazing season," he said.
Reports in British media have resumed speculating that the Manchester City and Bulgaria winger Martin Petrov is poised to leave the Eastlands en route to White Hart Lane.
Berbatov's brace was his third in four matches against Malta and gave him 48 goals in 74 appearances for the national team.

The left winger sustained yet another injury to his knee, which will keep the player out for at least two weeks.
Bulgaria harboured high aspirations to stage a Formula One race and permanently put the country on the international racing map.
