CSKA Sofia signs two Portuguese players

The board of CSKA Sofia FC has fulfilled its primary January transfer window objective, as well as their promise to their supporters by signing two Portuguese players, Rui Miguel and David Silva. Both are former players of Lokomotiv Mezdra, who managed to impress the coach of the Bulgarian champions, Dimitar Penev, with their consistent performances during the first half of the season.

CSKA stated before the New Year that they wanted to employ the services of the two Portuguese players, however complications emerged later as they attempted to put pen to paper and formulate their contracts. The executive director of CSKA, Alexander Todorov, stated yesterday that the new round of talks with Mezdra has gone well, and that the imminent arrival of players at the Bulgarian Army Ground is expected, Dnevnik daily reports.

Once the bureaucratic matter is finalised, the pair are expected to travel to Bansko and join their new teammates. Miguel is a striker and will fight for a first team spot with other new signings, Dormushali Sihodzha and Herman Pietrobon, as well as the returning to fitness Zdravko Lazarov. Silva will have an easier task ahead of him, however, as the left wing spot is now vacant - Ze Rui and Udodji have left CSKA Sofia during the January transfer window.
