An explosive device placed outside the entrance of Cafe Nero in Sofia's Ivan Vazov residential district went off soon after the restaurant closed in the early hours of February 18 2009, Bulgarian National Radio reported.

No one was injured in the blast, according to an Interior Ministry statement. Minor damage was caused to surrounding buildings.

A young man was seen leaving the scene shortly before the explosion, having placed a small package outside the restaurant.

Cafe Nero, at the corner of Vitosha Boulevard and Yanko Zabounov Street, is noted in the neighbourhood for customarily being surrounded by clusters of dark-coloured luxury vehicles parked close to the entrance.

Inappropriate comment?

No Sherlock Holmes needed to reveal the truth. It is obvious that this is a gift from one out of the many "friends" of the owner.

The good news is that there were no casualties.

Considering who is the owner, this is no surprise: It is a message from a rival gang.

LOL... if that is the reason (semi criminal ownership), half the country ought to be in ruins... No one injured... food will remain as it was.

Well the owner was a famous drug dealer so I suppose it was inevitable. Still, a shame as the food was pretty good
