After Russia restricted casinos in part of the country on July 1, Bulgaria has a "golden opportunity to become the Las Vegas for Russian gamblers," Bulgarian daily Standart said.
Resort operator Albena, which owns the hotels, retail outlets and infrastructure in the Black Sea resort of the same name, may keep half of the rooms locked next summer to avoid operating them at a loss, Albena executive director Krassimir Stanev said. Tourist packages will not get cheaper because of the growing food and materials costs, Stanev projected. The resort would decide whether to close the hotels for the summer in April, he added.
Bulgarian resort operator Albena AD has put up for sale its upscale holiday complex in Byalata Lagouna (White Lagoon) area, on Bulgaria's northern Black Sea coast. The project is up for grabs for 42.5 million euro, and comprises two units of 177 flats, a spa centre with an indoor and an outdoor swimming pool, a beach, a tennis court, a restaurant, a sweet shop, a supermarket and a parking lot.
Bulgarian visits abroad matched the trend, with the exception of Macedonia where there was a 15.7 per cent increase.
