On October 15, Sofia city hall said that it would hold a public procurement tender on October 23 to choose a company that would build a new bicycle lane in Sofia. The new lane, 6.1km long and linking Macedonia square to Knyazhevo district via Tsar Boris III Boulevard to Knyazhevo district, is planned for the green area near the boulevard and would be built together with a walking path, the city hall said.
The construction of the first new-age bicycle lane started in Sofia on September 1, but the official launch date will be September 8 when all documents will be signed, Sofstroy infrastructure department manager Mitko Berberov told The Sofia Echo on September 5. Well, the thought was there and it was well intentioned BUT why did the planners or even the people who built it not spot the problem ? It's no use at all and has been a waste of time and money so come on people lets start doing things properly the first time.
