A 23-year-old man from Stara Zagora was abducted on Friday May 1 but later rescued in a police operation.

The man was kidnapped outside the Mall Stara Zagora’s parking lot where he was forcibly dragged out of his car and shoved into another vehicle. Luckily for him, however, a female witness standing nearby alerted police immediately, Dnevnik reported.

Police then mounted a rescue operation. Several hours later the three abductors were apprehended near the village of Elenino. The victim was found badly beaten.

While working on the case, officers eventually revealed that the kidnapping was orchestrated by a 33-year-old man from Stara Zagora, reputedly the owner of a watch shop, who suspected that the 23-year-old man had participated in a robbery at his store three days earlier.

The 33-year-old man and his two accomplices have been detained and will remain in custody for 24 hours.
