Boiko Borissov approaches Stoichkov in a bid to reinforce his chances in the approaching summer elections, a week after the footballer was named Iranian club Abu Moslem's new head coach.
Former Barcelona and Bulgarian national football team star Hristo Stoichkov has declined an invitation to join the board of the Bulgarian Football Union (BFU), which is to be confirmed at the BFU congress later in January, reports in Bulgaria said. Stoichkov, whose disastrous stint in charge of the Bulgarian national team ended in his acrimonious departure half-way through the Euro 2008 qualifying cycle. BFU is run mainly by the team that finished fourth in the 1994 World Cup, but Stoichkov, the star of that side, appears to have rebuffed the latest approach to play a bigger role in how BFU is run.
Serbia's Crvena Zvezda football club was not in talks with Bulgarian football legend Hristo Stoichkov to fill the head coach vacancy, Serbian broadcaster B92 quoted club chairman Toplica Spasojević as saying on May 29 2008. Spasojević rubbished the media reports in recent days, which suggested that the 1994 winner of the Ballon D'or would take over Serbia's most popular club.
Bulgarian football legend Hristo Stoichkov has allegedly beaten up Bulgarian photographer Lyubo Asenov in Barcelona. Asenov was in Barcelona for the Spanish Grand Prix. He was the only accredited Bulgarian photographer for the start of the Formula 1 race, Dnevnik daily said.

He is not the first European in Iran. Before him, greater coaches such as Tomislav Ivic, miroslav blazevic, Bora Milotinovic, Arie Haan and Javier Clemente have been in Iran and none of them has ever been complaining about the way people (or government) treated them. I'm sure he too will be received positively by Iranians!
it's all about propaganda. i live in iran, iran is one of the safest and most secure places in the world. there is no war going on here. and crime rate is low. much lower than some european countries. just dont let the media brainwash you. i hope Stoichkov will have a good time here
he will end up punching some local paparazzi half and kick his head in, as he always does, and get himself in tons of shit with the authorities. he may be a legend but was always a hooligan.
Stoichkov could be a great coach! I hope he will not be in danger in Iran.
Stop being so paranoid. Nobody's going to harm Stoitchkov, least of all Iran. Stop believing all that western propaganda you read.
No not Iran! Can someone else find a job for this legend so he won't go to Iran where they might harm him? Hell no Hristo, don't go!
