Depeche Mode cancel Istanbul show as well

Depeche Mode

The British band have cancelled their show in Turkey, scheduled for today, May 14. This has come just one day after the cancellation of their gig in Athens.

Depeche Mode have issued an official statement announcing that it was a "severe bout of gastroenteritis" that sidelined lead singer Dave Gahan, and had him hospitalised briefly on May 13. Gahan’s illness forced the band to cancel their concert in Athens, Greece.

Additionally, the illness will also prevent Depeche Mode from performing on May 14 in Istanbul. As of now, the band’s May 16 gig in Bucharest is still on their schedule, the Rolling Stone has reported.

The band are scheduled to perform in Sofia, Bulgaria, on May 18.  As of yet, there are no reports as to whether Gahan’s illness will result in the cancellation of this show as well.

Depeche Mode: 2 mini-reviews

Perched far back up in the stands at Sofia's Lokomotiv Stadium at the height of the Depeche Mode concert, I was puzzled to see thousands of tiny illuminated rectangles.
