The Depeche Mode concert that was to take place on May 18 in Sofia, has been cancelled, Bulgarian daily Dnevnik said, quoting unnamed sources at organisers Sofia Music Enterprises.

A "severe bout of gastroenteritis" that sidelined lead singer Dave Gahan, and had him hospitalised briefly on May 13, caused the British band days earlier to cancel concerts in Athens and Istanbul.

It was uncertain whether a new date would be selected for the Sofia concert or the concert would be cancelled all together, Dnevnik said.
