Youssef Rabeh, a Moroccan defender with Levski Sofia football club, is facing a prison sentence and a hefty fine from his club after he was caught driving under the influence of alcohol for the second time this year.

In the early hours of August 15 2009 Rabeh was detained for 24 hours after he tested positive for alcohol by the Sofia police. He was set free on 20 000 leva bail.

In April 2009 he was handed a four-month suspended sentence and three years' probation for driving under the influence of alcohol. In February he was tested positive after his vehicle slipped at a turn in Studentski Grad borough, a popular venue with nightclubbers. No one was hurt.

Following his August 15 positive alcohol tests, Levksi president Todor Batkov has decided to fine Rabeh 60 000 leva. He was also sent to train with Levski’s second team.

The only thing which stopped Batkov from parting with Rabeh was Levski’s other players who stood behind their teammate, Bulgarian-language sportni.bg said.

The players asked Batkov not to cause any more tension before Levski’s  Uefa Championship League match against Hungarian Debrecen on August.19 in Sofia.

"This is Rabeh’s last chance. If it was up to me we would have kicked him out already," Batkov was quoted as saying.

Inappropriate comment?

200lvs bets he gets a 2 year suspended sentence, 12 month driving ban, and a 2000 lev fine. Now, if he was a member of the public he'd be jailed.

Law for one.

Inappropriate comment?

Clearly he has had his chance - now it must be som time in prison; else the whole system will be finally prooved to be a joke.

Says a lot about his fellow players that they stand by their tame drunk! Perhaps 40% of the 60,000 fine can be split amongst his fellow players so they can truly show their solidarity.
