About 200 angry supporters of South African premier league team Mamelodi Sundowns gathered outside the club's football ground after the match with Bidvest Wits on September 16, calling for the resignation of manager Hristo Stoichkov.

Sundowns led 2-1 with 20 minutes left in the match, but defensive mistakes cost them the match, which Wits won 4-2.

Stoichkov had to be taken out of the stadium in a police car, followed by another police vehicle. Close to 200 fans, who were waiting outside, eventually left, website kickoff.com said.

With six points from as many games, Sundowns are now 12th in the league of 16, eight points behind league leaders Orlando Pirates.

Club president Patrice Motsepe has a penchant for sacking coaches, especially when the Sundowns faithful are unhappy, and Stoichkov's South African adventure could prove a short-lived one, website football365.co.za said. Motsepe fired Stoichkov's predecessor Henri Michel after only six months in charge of the club.

Stoichkov's troubles with the media continue too, the Bulgarian refusing to speak to the press after the match. It was the third offence by a Sundowns manager in less than a year, kickoff.com said, and will cost the club 100 000 South African rands, about 9250 euro. The fine, imposed after Michel refused to talk to the media in December 2008, was suspended for 12 months. The club will now have to pay the money and will face another fine following Stoichkov's snub, kickoff.com said.
