The National Centre for the Study of Public Opinion (NCSPO) said that about 64 per cent of Bulgarians will not go on a holiday in 2010, Focus news agency reported on July 28 2010.

The poll revealed results similar to previous years, namely that predominantly young people, graduates and Sofia residents are more inclined, and have the means, to travel over the summer. According to the report, about 60 per cent of these three groups would plan to go on a holiday.

Additionally, comparative studies show that about four per cent of Bulgarian holidaymakers prefer to travel abroad. Once again, this number is expected to remain more or less unchanged, despite appeals to the public to boost local tourism and stay at home in light of the economic crisis. The groups favouring holidays abroad are the wealthy, the educated, those from Sofia and the young.

The Black Sea remains the top favourite destination in 2010 once again. Half as many tourists who would rather opt for a summer holiday in the mountains, although rural tourism has been increasingly popular in light of the economic crisis, the report says.
