Jazz legend Herbie Hancock will perform at Sofia’s National Palace of Culture, NDK, on October 27 2010 at 8pm as part of the Music Jam festival.

This is Hancock’s first performance in Bulgaria, concert promoters said.

On October 30, Deep Purple keyboardist Jon Lord will play, as part of the same festival.

Chigago-born Hancock (70), is a former member of the Miles Davis Quintet, led the band the Headhunters and is an Oscar winner; albums he worked on with the Headhunters have won Grammy awards. This year has seen Hancock working on The Imagine Project, in which he uses the universal language of music to highlight the idea of peace as a global responsibility.

Tickets for the Herbie Hancock concert go on sale on September 3, will cost 30 to 80 leva and can be bought from the NDK ticket centre, online at ticketpro.bg, and at various stores in Sofia, Plovdiv, Bourgas, Veliko Turnovo, Pleven and Varna.
