Sofia's opera goers enjoyed the opening night of a magnificent production of Puccini's Tosca at Sofia Opera Theatre on November 12.

The current production, under the patronage of the Italian embassy and in co-operation with the Italian Institute for Culture, commemorates the 150th anniversary of the unification of Italy.

Radostina Nikolaeva plays Tosca, Kostadin Andreev plays Mario Cavaradossi and Biser Georgiev plays Baron Scarpia.

The conductor of the orchestra, Alessandro Sangiorgi, is Italian but the orchestra is entirely Bulgarian. Miodrag Tabcki is set designer and Leo Kulas the costume designer but all the other singers and musicians, as well as the choir, are Bulgarian.
