On February 20, Unesco Director-General Irina Bokova was in Sofia for the opening of Regional Centre for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage in South-Eastern Europe under the auspices of Unesco. Foreign Minister Nikolai Mladenov said at the opening ceremony that the greatest challenge for the regional centre is to show that on the Balkans, Bulgaria and its neighbours can work jointly in displaying the region’s non-material cultural heritage.
