Boyko Manev, just 30 years old and formerly rooms division manager at Sofia’s Dedeman Princess Hotel, will take over as general manager of the same hotel from the beginning of April following the resignation of Manfred Moennich.

Manev was initially appointed executive assistant manager following Moennich's departure in February.

Before that, Manev was rooms division manager at the Dedeman. The hotel is the largest on the Balkan Peninsula with 601 rooms. In that position he was responsible for front office, reservations, housekeeping, bell staff and shuttle drivers.

Manev says he owes his meteoric rise in part to Mr Moennich. "He believed in me and gave me the opportunity to develop myself," he told The Sofia Echo when we interviewed him in the summer of 2011.

During that interview Manev was outspoken about his belief in staying put in Bulgaria.  "I had several possibilities when I was so close to leaving. Yet I stayed. I have my reasons to believe that if we are born here we should grow here and develop what we are being given. Is it difficult?  Yes. Is it challenging? Yes. Do I have the will to continue? Yes. We need to think positively – and then we will reap positive results as proof of the old adage that what goes around – comes around," he told us.
