About 110 000 foreign tourists are expected to visit Bulgaria during the Eastern Orthodox Christian Easter long weekend, according to the director of the Institute for Analysis and Assessment of Tourism, Roumen Draganov.

In 2012, Easter in Bulgaria is from April 13 to 16.

Bulgarian National Radio quoted Draganov as saying that most of the foreign tourists would be from Romania, an estimated 65 000, followed by Greeks, 30 000, and about 25 000 visitors from Serbia, Macedonia and Montenegro.

About 250 000 Bulgarian will travel within the country over the Easter weekend, of whom about 60 000 will stay in hotels and guest houses while the rest will visit relatives and friends.

Draganov said that a slight decrease in the number of Greeks visiting Bulgaria was expected, along with a reduction in travel by Bulgarians within the country. This was because of the economic crisis and in particular the currently high fuel prices.
