Only three months after Bulgaria’s Darik Net bought online group Net Info, the two companies have become the object of a new consolidation deal. Sweden’s Modern Times Group (MTG), which is owner of the group of TV channels around Nova Television, will acquire 70% of the two companies, the European media giant said. The price of the deal was not announced.
The remaining 30% of Darik Net will be kept by the company’s current owner, Radoslav Radev. He will also keep Darik Radio. However, the Swedish company has an option to acquire the remaining shares in Darik Net in the next five years. The deal is subject to approval by the anti-trust authorities and is expected to be finalized in September. The acquisition will consolidate MTG’s media assets within the framework of Nova Broadcasting Group.
"The deal will make us a leader on the digital media market," Nova Broadcasting Group said in a statement. The consolidated company will own video content platforms VBOX 7 and Nova Play, email platform abv.bg, news websites Vesti.bg, DarikNews.bg, Novanews.bg and sports news sites Sportni.bg and Gong.bg. Currently Nova Broadcasting Group has two websites in its portfolio: Nova Play and Novanews.bg.
