The government would grant 1 million leva to the municipality of Varna for the construction of creches and kindergartens, prime minister Sergei Stanishev announced during his November 7 visit to the seaside city. In Varna he met mayor Kiril Yordanov to discuss a number of topics, a media statement by the Council of ministers said.
Stanishev said the government would also finance the renovation and modernisation of the road form Varna to the nearby Golden Sands resort. The prime minister said this was very important with regards to the 2008 tourist season.
A number of social issues were discussed during the meeting. One of them was the repair of Varna's County hospital. Stanishev said the government wanted to help the municipality's management achieve even bigger success especially in the field of education, health care and infrastructure.
The prime minister and mayor Yordanov discussed the project for modernisation and expansion of the Varna port which is going to be financed by the State bank of Japan.
