The temperatures in various parts of Bulgaria will reach as much as 40 degrees Celsius this week.
On Friday, June 22, thermometrein various cities will show as much as 42 degrees, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences meteorological department head Latin Latinov said.
High temperatures will be registered in the regions of Plovdiv and Sandanski.
Bulgarias capital of Sofia will also be affected by the heat wave and the temperature there will reach 40 degrees as well, Focus news agency reported.
Such weather conditions could be observed every two, three years, Latinov said. Unusually high temperatures during June were very rare.
The maximum measured previously in Bulgaria during the month is 44.5 degrees Celsius.
