Bulgaria will invest 500 million euro in renovating its transport network in 2008, Regional Development and Public Works Minister Assen Gagauzov said.
The funds, which will come from the state budget and European Union (EU) programmes, are double the amount planned for 2007, Focus news agency reported.
The funds will be used to renovate 2500 to 3000km of roads a year. In four to five years, the countrys road network will be completely renovated.
Maritsa Highway is expected to be finished by the end of 2009. A further two sections Trakia Highway will be completed and further discussions will take place on what needs to be done to complete Hemus Highway.
