The number of foreign tourists visiting Bulgaria between January and August increased by 6.88 per cent, or 3.97 million people on annual basis, Anelia Kroushkova, head of State Agency for Tourism, said.
Until the end of July 2007, the increase was relatively low, but a large increase in the number of tourists was registered in August, Focus news agency said.
Kroushkova said, that revenue was impressive. According to data from Bulgarian National Bank, income from international tourism for January-July 2007 amounted to 1347.4 million euro, a year over year increase of 16.04 per cent.
“There are four more months until the end of the year and the increase would be even bigger,” Kroushkova said.
