The commission on the declassification of the files of the communist-era secrets services announced the names of a further 156 people who were candidate municipal councillors.
On November 23 2007, the commission published the result of the first part of its research, containing the names of 204 municipal councillors candidates, who took part in the municipal election at the end of October 2007, Focus news agency said.
The commission examined the past of 33 533 such candidates. Because of the large number, the commission published the names of the collaborators in two volumes.
By now, the commission has established out that 140 members of the seventh Grand National Assembly and in the 36th, 37th, 38th, 39th and the current 40th Parliaments collaborated with the secret services.
Two of the 17 members of the Central Election Commission for the October 2007 elections and 425 out of the 12 197 mayor candidates were also secret agents or collaborators.
The commission is currently examining a total of 673 office-bearers, including prime ministers, deputy prime ministers, ministers and deputy ministers in the Cabinets since 1990 to find out whether they collaborated with the secret services.
