UK’s Arsenal is closing in on buying 20-year-old Bulgarian Nikolai Dimitrov, after trackingfollowing him for weeks.
Dimitrov was a “technically gifted left winger, who can also play up-front and he is making a big name for himself,” skysports.com said.
He caught Arsenal’s attention while playing for Bulgaria’s Under-21 national team.
The winger’s current club Levski Sofia confirmed that it had accepted Arsenal’s proposal to take Dimitrov on trial.
Levski executive director Nasko Sirakov told local media that the club had been aware of Arsenal’s interest for a couple of weeks. “The only thing now left is for Nikolai to travel to London,” he said.
Coach Stanimir Stoilov was sure that Dimitrov would impress Arsenal. “He is young and very talented,” he said as, quoted by skysports.com.
An invitation from Arsenal was “quite a tribute, not only for the player but also for the club,” Stoilov said.
