AVERAGE MONTHLY INCOME IN BULGARIA REGISTERS INCREASE

The average monthly income of Bulgarian households increased by 76 leva in September, data of the National Statistical Institute (NSI) shows.

Household expenditure increased by 49 leva, Bulgarian National Radio reported.

In September 2006 the average Bulgarian household gained 569 leva while its expenditure was 549 leva.

Wages continue being the biggest source of income for Bulgarian families. Pensions come next, followed by funds from property sale.

Income from entrepreneurship is still insignificant.

Bulgarians spent most on food, followed by household expenditure, transportation expenditure and the purchase of alcohol and tobacco products.

Focus news agency reported that the average monthly wage will increase by 8.08 per cent to become 396.34 leva in 2007.
