Ice dance pair Albena Denkova and Maxim Staviiski finished in 10th place in the World Figure Skating Championships in Vancouver, Canada, on Saturday.
This marked the best result ever by Bulgarian figure skaters in world championships. The pair is now guaranteed participation in the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City in 2002.
Ivan Dinev, Bulgarias best figure skater, finished 12th among the men and will also compete in the Olympics. Prior to this, Dinevs best finish in world competition was 18th place in Nice last year.
